# Backpocket privacy policy

Last updated 3 September 2026.

This is the holding privacy policy for Backpocket. It describes the app's current data paths and
will be expanded if those paths change.

## Summary

Backpocket has no account system and no developer-operated service. Your board data does not pass
through a Backpocket server. The app works directly with the repository or folder you choose.

## Data stored on your device

Backpocket stores the project configuration needed to reopen a board, a local cache of board
content, and pending writes that have not yet reached their source. Credentials are stored in the
system keychain. Folder access is limited to locations you select through the system picker.

Apple may provide MetricKit performance and diagnostic reports after real device use. Backpocket
retains those reports locally, with bounded storage, so you can inspect or export them. The app does
not upload, schedule or otherwise send those reports automatically.

## Data sent to another service

When you connect a hosted repository, Backpocket sends the requests needed to read or update that
repository directly to its host. For GitHub connections, authentication and repository requests go
directly to GitHub and are handled under GitHub's terms and privacy policy.

When you choose a local clone or folder, Backpocket reads and writes that selected source on your
device. Any later synchronisation performed by Files, Git or another provider is controlled by that
provider, not by Backpocket.

## Data sent to us

The app does not send us board content, repository identifiers, credentials, analytics or
diagnostic reports. A support message or diagnostic export reaches us only when you choose to send
it. Review anything you attach, because board content and diagnostics can contain information that
is personal or confidential to you.

## This website

These pages are part of the m7kni.io documentation hub. The hub's optional, consent-gated analytics
and the necessary cookies it sets regardless of that choice are described in the
[m7kni.io privacy policy](https://m7kni.io/privacy/). They are separate from the Backpocket app.

## Contact and changes

M7KNI Ltd is responsible for this policy. Use the
[contact form](https://m7kni.com/#contact) for privacy questions or requests. If Backpocket's data
handling changes, this page and its last-updated date will change before the new path is released.
