# Backpocket support

## Before contacting support

1. Open the affected project and refresh it.
2. Check the inline sync state and the outbox for a specific error.
3. Confirm that the selected repository, branch or folder still contains its `backlog/` directory.
4. For GitHub connections, confirm that the credential still has access to the selected repository.

If a task is read-only, check its frontmatter and section markers with the Backlog.md command-line
tool. Backpocket refuses to write when those regions are ambiguous or malformed.

## Contact

Use the [contact form](https://m7kni.com/#contact) and choose the product-support option. Include:

- the Backpocket version and platform;
- the connection type: GitHub, clone or folder;
- the action you attempted and the exact error shown; and
- whether the problem affects one task, one project or every project.

Do not send access tokens, passwords, private repository contents or diagnostic exports unless
support explicitly asks for a specific file and you have reviewed it first.

## Privacy and diagnostics

Backpocket does not upload diagnostics automatically. If you choose to export a locally retained
MetricKit report, it leaves the device only through the destination you select. See the
[privacy policy](../privacy.md) for details.
